Founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of Peterborough
Carpet Land, Whelan's Flooring Centre has grown to become the premier
retail flooring store in Peterborough and the Kawartha's. Although
we've been around a long time, Whelan's has managed to stay ahead

In 2009 we won the Peterborough Business Excellence Award for
commercial restoration/renovation for the complete transformation
we made to our Chemong Rd. location. The showroom is absolutely

Whelan's is well known for our quality installation and the fact
that we stand behind everything we do. This may sound cliché,
but the majority of our installers have been in the business for
over ten years with several of them having installed with us for
over twenty years. Being a family business; a happy customer at

If you are interested in new flooring, the process is as follows:
Come in to the store, meet one of the sales staff and we'll guide
you through the selection process to find not only a floor that
fits your budget and taste, but also one that is appropriate for
your particular situation. This is key, as certain flooring types
are not recommended in certain situations and the last thing anyone
needs is a long warranty battle down the road. We setup a time to
come to your home and measure the rooms in question and you bring
home a bunch of samples to look at.
After the measure, we provide you with a detailed quote outlining
everything needed to complete your job. You then tell us that the
price is great and we set a date for installation and order the
material. Roughly two weeks later, we're in your home installing
your new floor. When we're finished, you'll call the store and tell
us how amazing your new flooring looks! Sounds pretty easy and straight
forward. We take care of everything from start to finish. No scrambling
around looking for a reliable contractor to install after you've
picked up the product, it's all done in-house.
All of our sales staff are experienced professionals and try to
make the decision process as easy as possible. They also can provide
suggestions and design ideas along the way. We strive to keep everybody
up to date on the latest trends and products by having frequent
training sessions with the manufacturers. The sales people are your
